You just can’t expect peace and quiet when President Donald Trump comes to town. Even if it’s for some of the best golfers in the world to make their shots.

The president caused a big commotion when he made an appearance Saturday at the U.S. Women’s Open at his Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

Trump sparked so much noise from crowds, that it actually distracted players mid-game. Officials had to tell golf fans to keep it down as heavyweights like world no. 3-ranked Lexi Thompson, Brooke Henderson and Stacy Lewis approached the 15th green in the heart of the country club, the Associated Press reported.

Dozens of attendees swarmed the clubhouse where the president was watching the game, with people snapping photos and waving. School girls squealed and the president, who stood behind glass with his son, Eric Trump, waived, pointed and gave a thumbs-up, according to the AP.

Noticeably absent was Donald Trump Jr., who has been the center of a scandal regarding revelations related to Russian involvement in the Trump campaign.

Trump and First Lady Melania Trump just returned from a visit to Paris earlier in the week, where they met with French president Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigette Macron.

Trump took to Twitter after arriving at the U.S. Women’s Open, and seemed to suggest that crowds were happy about the success of the stock market.

“Just got to the #USWomensOpen in Bedminster, New Jersey. People are really happy with record high stock market – up over 17% since election!” Trump tweeted.

Stock market prices aside, golfers were less than enthused with the president, who seemed to steal the show from the pros.

Chinese golfer Shanshan Feng told the AP she could hear crowds screaming for the president from the 15th green.

And Thompson, the top ranked female American golfer in the world, old reporters that crowds were definitely not looking ”toward the golf,” the Washington Post reported.

Trump has already conducted official business at Trump National Bedminster, and he has had his personal villa redone, Time reported.

The president’s presence was expected to draw protesters critical of the U.S. Golf Association for not moving the open to another location because of the controversial remarks by the president.

“Regardless of your political affiliation and whether you are a fan of Trump or you’re not a fan of Trump, having a president at a women’s golf event is pretty remarkable,” American golfer Marina Alex said after finishing her round. “It’s going to draw attention to women’s golf that has maybe never been in our favor before.

Trump is the first sitting president to attend a U.S. Women’s Open.
